Founder & CEO
Dr. Shené Bowie-Hussey is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Leap for Joy Foundation, bringing over 25 years of experience in public health, maternal wellness, and community leadership. She has led impactful programs across California focused on strengthening families, advancing maternal health, and building resilient communities. As both an educator and faith-based leader, she bridges healthcare and ministry to create holistic, people-centered solutions. Her work is grounded in compassion, strategy, and a deep belief that joy and healing begin with community.

Dr. Thompson has been practicing Family Medicine in the Inland Empire for over 34 years. A graduate of UCSF School of Medicine and board-certified since 1991, she has served patients through San Bernardino Medical Group, now Optum, for more than two decades. She is deeply committed to providing accessible, high-quality care and to improving the health of her community.

Dr. Wilma Gaines serves as Chief Financial Officer of East Oakland Faith Deliverance Center Church, where she is also an evangelist, minister, and Bible teacher. With experience spanning education, community health, and mental health advocacy, she has dedicated her career to empowering families and strengthening communities. She is devoted to faith-driven service and uplifting others through her leadership and ministry.
Shaunté brings over 24 years of experience in public service, child welfare, and human services administration. In her role as a Human Services Program Specialist with Sacramento County, she focuses on advancing equity, strengthening outcomes, and improving systems for underserved communities. She is passionate about building pathways that create lasting impact for children and families.

Dr. Caminos is Associate Program Director and clinical faculty for the HCA Riverside Family Medicine Residency. Trained at UCLA and Riverside Community Hospital, he specializes in adolescent health, Addiction Medicine, and HIV care. He is dedicated to mentoring residents and shaping programs that improve access to equitable, evidence-based primary care.
Shardae Williams is a Family Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of clinical experience across intensive care, post-anesthesia, and community health. She is devoted to providing compassionate, holistic care that uplifts women and families through every stage of life. Guided by faith and a heart for service, she is committed to empowering others to live with purpose, resilience, and well-being.
Johnny Bowie is a Fire Captain with the Berkeley Fire Department, bringing over a decade of experience in emergency response, leadership, and community safety. A certified California State Fire Officer and graduate of the Executive Development Institute, he is known for his calm, mission-driven leadership and commitment to public service. Johnny brings strong problem-solving skills and a passion for teamwork to every role he serves, both in the field and in the community.

Hattie Harrison serves as Chief of Staff for the Leap for Joy Foundation, overseeing board operations, governance, and organizational strategy. With a decade of experience in global HR and leadership across manufacturing, tech, and consulting, she specializes in talent development and people-first operations. Guided by authenticity, inclusion, and everyday joy, Hattie crafts clear processes and sustainable habits that balance life and work, helping people and performance thrive.
Erica Roman serves as the Organization Development Coordinator for the Leap for Joy Foundation, focusing on marketing, research, and event planning to strengthen the organization’s impact. She brings nearly a decade of experience supporting senior leaders at UBS, NYU, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, with a background spanning investigations, compliance, and executive operations. Passionate about social impact, Erica is dedicated to amplifying the foundation’s mission and creating meaningful opportunities for the communities it serves.
